Todd
Doyle once again showed everyone why he is at the top of his
game, taking out his third win out of four rounds held in the
2007/2008 G&W Racing Queensland Modified Production Series.
Doyle displayed some fantastic driving through the heats to
start on the outside front row with Darryl Etherden in pole
position. Doyle had to power into the lead on the outside
of Etherden twice after a complete restart was needed when Steve
Thomsen lost a wheel.
Todd
Doyle manoeuvred his way through lapped traffic and was never
challenged over the 35 lap final. Greg Worling diced with
Darryl Etherden for second place, Etherden holding onto second
for the majority of the race but a slow stream of smoke seemed
to hamper his performance. Worling made a pass to snare
the runner up spot with a few laps to go. Etherden rolled
across the line with hard charger Matt Swarbrooke hot on their
heels all race crossing in fourth.
Mark
Raymont got a little too sideways while running fourth and shot
across the infield. Mark rejoined in 15th place but later
retired after an altercation with Mark Ferguson saw him end up
in the fence.
Steve
Price was next in line finishing fifth in the Steelforce backed
Ford Cortina followed by Queensland Champion Aiden Raymont.
Steven Zahl was credited with seventh place, followed by Travis
Barron, Mark Ferguson, Shane Macdonald, Dennis Shallcrosse, Gary
Maroske and Steve Collins.
The heat
race action provided was second to none, with Darryl Etherden
running around the outside of Mark Ferguson to claim the win in
heat one. Local man Travis Barron in the Otech Lubricants
EL Falcon lead from start to finish in heat two.
Luke
Hollyman took an early lead in heat three, but was overcome by
Mark Raymont took the win from Todd Doyle and Luke Hollyman.
Aiden
Raymont held on for the win in heat four, with as fast finishing
Darryl Etherden in second. The vastly improved Steven Zahl
driving his VY Commodore drove away with the heat five win,
while Todd Doyle opened up a buffer over his nearest rival in
heat six, winning by nearly half a lap.
Dennis
Shallcrosse looked to have heat seven under wraps, but come
unstuck and went into the wall up the back straight, with
Steve Price claiming the win. Matt Swarbrooke was first
across the line in heat eight.
The
final heat saw Greg Worling take the win with Mark Raymont in
for second.
The
series will take a short break over Christmas and the new year,
and will re-commence at Mothar Mountain Speedway in Gympie on
