After
a two month break from the series, due to the hectic holiday
period of racing for Modified Production all over Australia, the
2007/2008 G&W Racing Queensland Modified Production Series heads
trackside this weekend (16th February) to Mothar Mountain
Speedway in Gympie for Round five.
With two
rounds to go, the top three positions are filled by current
National and State Champions. Australian Champion Todd
Doyle currently enjoys a seventy-nine point lead ahead of
Queensland Champion Aiden Raymont and trailing by another seven
points is newly crowned New South Wales champion Steve Price.
Mark Raymont currently sits in fourth spot with the vastly
improved Shane Macdonald in fifth. Macdonald won the T-Mac
Auto Spares Modified Production Challenge back in December and
will be once again back to shake the mountain.
A total
of around thirty cars are nominated for Round five, and a
surprise nomination is former New South Wales Champion and last
years series winner Michael Hally.
A new
surface has been spread around the Gympie circuit, so it will be
interesting to see who can adapt the quickest to the new
conditions.
The
racing will be at its best as all competitors will be pressing
for those extra points to move up the ladder.
