After an absence from the Speedway scene of recent, Darren White has sprung back into victory lane by taking out round five of the 2007/2008 G&W Racing Modified Production Series.  Driving his VS Commodore, previously campaigned by Craig Mellor, White started from position six in the 30 lap final.  White had a huge task ahead of himself with National Champion Todd Doyle starting from pole position, Queensland Champion Aidan Raymont out of two and both Mark and Greg Raymont filling the next row respectively.

The night was plagued with light showers, but fortunately was never enough to stop the racing.  A shower passed as the cars rolled out for the A-main, making the first few laps a little greasy.  Turn one saw Todd Doyle get pounced upon by Mark Raymont up the inside and Aidan on the outside, while Greg Raymont smacked the wall up the top of the mountain, lucky enough to continue.  Doyle fell back to fourth, only to fight his way back into second behind Aidan Raymont.

Through the night with the new surface, the track developed some rather large ruts which claimed a few victims in the final. Nine laps in there was the first stoppage as Mark Raymont rolled to a stop.  Tough luck for the local hard charger as a lump of clay had knocked the distributor on the engine causing the engine to stop.  Shane Macdonald pulled out at the same time with a deflating right front tyre whilst running in eighth spot.

Aidan Raymont led the field away for the restart, with Doyle hot on his heels followed by Darren White, Greg Raymont and Steve Price.  Raymont and Doyle set some cracking pace up front, when Raymont come unstuck and hit wall, causing steering damage to his EL Falcon and having to retire.  Doyle assumed the race lead from Greg Raymont and Darren White.  White was coming on strong and moved into second position and was matching the pace of the Australian Champion, when Doyle suddenly pulled infield with a broken driveshaft.

Michael Hally was up to position five when he also retired when the spark plug lead fell off his engine from the rough conditions.  Darren white was the fourth different leader of the race, as he revelled in the track conditions driving away from Greg Raymont in the latter stages to claim a hard fought win on a very demanding race track.  Greg Raymont crossed the line in second with New South Wales Champion Steve Price coming home in third after starting from position five.  Minor placings were filled by Gary Maroske in his Mazda RX7 in fourth, followed by Mark Ferguson, Steven Zahl, Travis Barron and Dennis Shallcrosse.

Aidan Raymont started the night off with a heat win, followed by Shane Macdonald who scraped the wall during the race trying to reel in Raymont, while Mark Ferguson crossed in third.

Heat two saw Todd Doyle score a win ahead of Steve Price and Greg Raymont.

Michael Hally picked up where he left off, having a closely fought battle with Mark Raymont for the lead in heat three.  Raymont come through victorious ahead of Halley with Allan Nash in third.

Todd Doyle started from fourth in heat four, as he jumped into the lead in the first turn and never looked back.  Aidan Raymont finished in second with Matt Swarbrooke third.

Darren White took out heat five ahead of Greg Raymont and Gavin Lorensen, while Michael Hally continued some great driving to win heat six ahead of Gary Maroske and Mark Ferguson.

Todd Doyle took his third heat win of the night, with Steve Price in second and Gary Maroske third.

Heat eight saw Aidan Raymont and Shane Macdonald go around the outside of Steve Thomsen to finish first and second respectively with Darren White in third.

Mark Raymont won the final heat ahead of Greg Raymont and Gavin Lorensen.

The Grand Finale heads to Brisbane International Speedway on March 1st for Round six.
