Another Series wrapped up
Sunday May 17, 2009. Tanya Barron

To All Competitors, Crew & Sponsors,

Wow what an end to the 5 round G & W Racing Modified Production Series for 2008/2009.  After another great series with over 50 cars participating in one round or another throughout the season it came to an end at Maryborough Speedway on Sunday night the 3rd of May.

Aiden Raymont claimed the win on the night but it was his brother Mark that took out the 2008/2009 G & W Racing Series.  After 5 rounds it came down to one race.  Mark Raymont was leading Steve Price by 20 points going into the feature race.  Aiden Raymont qualified out of pole position with Troy Ware in second, Mark Raymont in third & Rodney Pammenter out of fourth.  Aiden led the way with Ware close behind.  Ware was running a different line to Raymont and looked a serious threat until a few mistakes saw Pammenter & Grotherr slip through.  Pammenter never let Raymont out of his sight and with 14 laps remaining Pammenter started to apply the pressure placing the car up near the fence and gaining momentum & mounted a challenge on Raymont for the lead.  With the slick track taking its toll Pammenter was waiting for a mistake from Raymont but it wasn’t to be with Aiden crossing the line in first after leading the race from the start.  Mark Raymont fell back into 5th place but regained some pace & made his way back to 3rd with Grotherr taking out 4th place.

The action wasn’t limited to the front running cars with the heavily contested race seeing cars racing three wide at times. Troy Ware ended up in 5th followed by Dennis Shallcross, Steve Price, Mark Ferguson, Greg Worling, Gary Maroske, David Kent, Rodney Midolo, Trent Humphreys and Matt Swarbrooke.

Steve Price hung in to collect valuable points which placed him in second in the series.  With Aiden Raymont’s win this saw him jump from 5th to 3rd place in the series.  Followed by Matt Swarbrooke in 4th, Max Clarke in 5th, Darran Lester in 6th, Mark Ferguson in 7th, Adrian Stott in 8th, Quinton Clarke in 9th, David Jacobi in 10th & Dennis Bullpit in 11th
